Packing and moving services in London, Ontario come in more shapes than most people realize. Some people want every drawer, dish, and closet handled for them. Others just need help with the kitchen and the breakables. And some have already packed every box themselves and only need a team and a truck.
The right mix depends on your home, your schedule, and how much you own. Below, we lay out how a pack-and-move with our London moving team runs from the first call to the last box, which packing option fits your type of home, and the rooms that eat up the most packing time.
How a Pack-and-Move Runs, Start to Finish
The estimate.
You tell us what’s moving, where it’s going, and how much packing you’d like done. The more detail you share here, like a piano in the basement, a garage full of tools, or a condo on the 12th floor, the more accurate your quote will be.
Packing day.
For a larger house, we usually pack the day before the move, so moving day is spent loading instead of taping boxes. A smaller apartment can often be packed and moved on the same day.
Moving day.
Furniture gets wrapped and padded, we handle disassembly for anything that needs it, and the truck is loaded so nothing shifts on the drive across the city.
At the new place.
Boxes go to the rooms written on their labels, furniture goes back together, and if you’ve booked unpacking, we take care of that too.

Which Packing Option Fits Your Home?
The type of home you’re moving out of says a lot about how much packing help makes sense. Here’s what usually fits:
| Home Type | Packing option | Why it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Houses | Full packing | The most rooms to pack, plus a basement and garage. Whether it’s an older home in Old North or a newer build in Byron or Hyde Park, houses hold the most. |
| Townhouse | Full or partial packing | Less space than a detached house, but spread over two or three floors. Handing off the kitchen and fragile items saves the most time. |
| Condo | Partial or fragile-only packing | Less volume overall, but often more glassware, art, and electronics, plus an elevator booking to work within. |
| Apartment | Pack it yourself, or fragile-only | A smaller load. Many renters near Western and Fanshawe box up their own things and leave the heavy lifting and the truck to us. |

The Rooms That Take the Longest to Pack
If you’re packing some or all of your home yourself, these are the spots that usually run over schedule:
The kitchen.
It’s the slowest room in almost every home. Every glass, plate, and bowl gets wrapped on its own, and small appliances and pots with handles don’t stack neatly. If you’re only handing off one room, make it this one.
Closets.
Wardrobe boxes let hanging clothes go from one closet rail to the next, still on their hangers. It’s faster than folding everything, and your clothes arrive without the wrinkles.
Books, tools, and the garage.
Heavy things belong in small boxes. A large box full of books is hard to carry and much more likely to split open halfway to the truck.
TVs, art, and mirrors.
Flat, fragile pieces need padding on every side and should travel standing upright. We use proper padding and picture or mirror boxes so they arrive in one piece.
Moving Around London: Timing and Buildings
London’s moving calendar runs partly on the school year. With Western University and Fanshawe College both in the city, rental turnover picks up in the spring and again in late summer, and month-end dates fill up fast. Booking a few weeks ahead gives you the best shot at the day you want.
The type of building matters too. Downtown condo towers usually need the elevator booked with the property manager ahead of time, so get that window confirmed early and send it our way. Older houses in Old North and Wortley Village often have narrower stairs and doorways, so we measure the big pieces and disassemble whatever needs it. Newer builds in areas like Hyde Park and Summerside usually have easy driveway access, so the time goes into packing and carrying rather than getting in the door.
Pianos, Pool Tables, and Hot Tubs
Some pieces can’t be boxed up with the rest of the house. Our piano movers, pool table movers, and hot tub movers bring the right equipment for heavy and awkward items, and we schedule them as part of the same move so everything lands at the new place on the same day.
